Festive period plans
Merry Christmas to you all, from Dodlands Steading!!
There's a few meetings in the North over the festive period, and we've made entries at Wetherby, Catterick and Kelso in the next week.
- Nodda High Kid holds an entry in the extended 2m 6f handicap hurdle at Kelso next Sunday. He's been going well at home, but has yet to show the same sparkle on the racecourse. One day.......
- Mini the Minx is entered in the staying hurdle at Wetherby on Friday. She ran well in this very same race last year (finished second), but we would only run here if the ground conditions suited her (i.e. bottomless).
- We're toying with the idea of stepping Bollin Julie up in trip, and we may run her at Catterick on Saturday over 3 miles plus.
- We're not a large stable by any means, but we've got a couple of double entries involving our staying hurdler Hartforth. He's entered in Nodda High Kid's race at Kelso, and Julie's race at Catterick.
So, the main focus in the last week has been on the above four horses, ensuring best preparation should they take up any of the above engagements.

Elsewhere.....
We're keeping Snapping Turtle
and Bollin Fiona ticking
over in the mornings, while we look around for suitable races in the
next fortnight. Both are fit and well.
Youngsters
'Shady' and Nearly May
are coming along nicely, with the once-raced Nearly May in line for a
seasonal debut in late January/early February. 'Shady' continues to be
targeted for a debut towards the end of the season.
Star Racing's duo of Hawaii
Klass and Sam Patch are
doing everything we're asking of them at present, with Sam Patch in line
for a race towards early February.
We have got a couple of the string on the easy list at present, but
hopefully they'll be back into cantering in the not too distant future.
With the local schools in their seasonal break, it's great to see the enthusiastic young teenage 'weekend' work riders down at the yard each day. 'Kingy', Connor and Harris - take a bow, and we'll get your own profiles up and running in the new year.
