Paper Promise is a non at Sedgefield on Tuesday
Well, our hard working web team had prepared a preview for Tuesday's
2m 1f handicap hurdle (conditionals/amateurs) at Sedgefield.....only for
news to seep through that our mare
Paper Promise had been
declared a non runner.
Not entirely unusual at this grade, many of Paper Promise's rivals
are in the same predicament as our mare would have experienced - they have shown enough form in
the past to be competitive but recent runs leave a few question marks.
Of course, given recent experience of Northern 0-100 handicap hurdles,
there could be one laid out for the race so watch those massive,
sustained market moves - that'll be the winner all right. (#Bushypark
- hey kids, we do the social media trends you know).
Titus Bolt used to be one such horse when trained by Goldie and has
run some nice races for his new trainer (Scobie Jardine) but was pulled up
when last seen out in September.
Victor Thompson runs a couple but the
one the catches the eye is Deauville Society. Skelton's William Marshall
makes the journey north for one ride and this ex-Irish hurdler moved
quite recently and could
trot up on stable debut.
Susan Corbett's Let's Sway is in reasonable form while McCain's Carry On
has quite an inexperienced jockey, so maybe not today.
Chris Grant saddles Strong Team, a big outsider in the early market, but
he is another to rule out at your peril.
Young Kevin Brogan has been catching the headlines with some impressive winning rides (Sehayli at Wincanton, anyone?), and with the best recent form you'd think that Evita du Mesnil would have a strong favourite's chance.
Anyway, best of luck to Aidan Macdonald riding Sincerely Resdev. Aidan started out here at Dodlands as a teenage weekend work rider before joining Micky Hammond.
Fascinating race.
