Review of racing at Ayr on Wednesday
Everything seemed to happen just a little too quickly for Stolen Money on his hurdling debut over 2½ miles and his jumping was put under pressure from the off. He raced off the pace mostly and was chased along to keep in contact, but his jumping let him down on occasion and this told as the leaders set off for home and he was pulled up approaching 2 out.
His jumping will improve with experience, and we'll look around for a follow up run in 4-5 weeks time.
As with around half the field,
Baby Ticker ran in the same mares only 2½
mile handicap hurdle that she competed in last season.
And with the same
result!
Baby Ticker ran a race full of promise for the season in
finishing 4th under a fine, considerate ride from young Connor Wood. She
was up with the leading group the whole way until lack of a recent run
told approaching the last, and she couldn't quicken. Kept on to finish
4th beaten just over 9 lengths.
Our mare may be an 11 year old, but she is still running with enthusiasm and is
now on a career
high handicap mark of OR118. She goes really well at middle hurdling
distances and is well suited by testing
conditions.
You know, we may just try her at 3 miles soon.
