Kelso Monday - Our Elsie runs in the 3.10
There's no doubt that at home one of our top work horses - and an
electric jumper - is the Chamberlain Bros.' 6yr old mare
Our Elsie. Her dam Well
Disguised won 4 hurdle races but didn't win the first of these until her
13th attempt. So that leaves 9 to go for Our Elsie.......
But seriously, we do like this mare a lot and feel it is only a matter
of time before she shows her true ability on the racecourse.
This is Our Elsie's third run in a novice, so all being well she should qualify for a handicap mark after this.
The field is headed by McCain's strong travelling novice Word Has It
who carries an extra 6lb having won at Carlisle at the end of February.
He is the likely winner.
Wicked West was in the process of running a very fine race when falling
when just 2 lengths down at the last to the well regarded Tommy's Oscar
at Newcastle last time. He looks the one to give Word Has It most to do.
Like ourselves the rest of the field is made up of horses looking to gain more experience. Amongst others, some to note in running are Kinneston Nick's hurdling debutant Upandatit, Rose's ex-Irish bumper winner Cailin Dearg and Mike Smith's The Jad Factor.
So, 2 mile novice hurdle at Kelso, where the ground is drying fast and is given as good. Blair Campbell is in the saddle and good luck to Barry & Steve.
