Ayr Monday
A good way through January yet Monday at Ayr will see our first
runners of 2021. Not for the want of trying, it's just the weather has
bit hard when there have been horses from the yard lined up to race.
Still, lots has been going on around the country with main players
in the racing game courting controversy as soon as a microphone/journalist
is in the vicinity. Who'da thought that Ryan Moore has the correct approach
after all........
Stolen Money is an out and out stayer and although he will be suited
to the expected grueling, testing conditions he may still find the
extended 3 miles of the novices' hurdle (12.55pm) a bit on the sharp
side.
Our gelding finished runner up to Rose's Seven Eye Bridge last time at
Carlisle but that winner may find it difficult to give 6lb to a couple
in the field who have already shown good staying form such as Imperial Knight
and Gold Miner.
The field is completed by a couple of Point winners in Brother Ali's
Houston Texas and Lucinda's debutant Corach Rambler, who may be best of
the rest.
This race a class above that when Stolen Money was second last time, so we'll be looking for our gelding to gain more experience here.
Stolen Money (Callum) tracks the group up the gallop
Later in the card, Paper
Promise runs in the 2m 5f 0-100 handicap hurdle at 3 pm. She needs to show a bit more spark than of late, and this outing
comes on the back of a lackluster effort over 2 miles at Musselburgh a
couple of weeks ago. Things can change on the day, but we may try
waiting tactics on the mare and drop her in, bringing her through horses
to challenge over the last flight.
Well, sounds a good plan but really it all depends on the horse.
Of the opposition, there are several lightly raced novices on
handicap debut so this
could go to an improving sort. Having said that, it is not often a horse
seeking a hat-trick is still rated below 85 but step forward Hot
Gossip.......
Lacey's Sinndarella, a French 13f winner, has not shown much in 3
hurdles races over 2 miles so far and may find the most in this step up
in trip.
No owners as such on track, so best of luck and enjoy the racing from the armchair - Eileen, Ron, Wee Davie, Ian and Mouse.
