Wetherby (Saturday) round-up

He may have been beaten 10 lengths back in 3rd on Saturday, but we were very pleased with Dali Mail who was making his seasonal debut in the 2 miles handicap hurdle.
The first two - Cornerstone Lad and Theatre Legend - are no slouches, and had both run well in their respective recent races so came here with that vital edge in race fitness terms. In fact top weight Cornerstone Lad was very impressive and we'd imagine he could be aimed at graded class hurdles before too long.

Our gelding though, was a wee bit ring rusty in the jumping department and maybe just lacked that little bit of pace from 3 out.

This is probably the time to school Dali Mail over fences and that'll happen in a week or so after we've given the gelding a few days to recover from his race. He wouldn't be inconvenienced by a step up in trip, either, so that does open up more opportunities in the north.
