Review of racing at Ayr yesterday

We'd hoped for slightly better from Our Elsie in the bumper at Ayr yesterday but after being prominent for a long way, she was outpaced 3f out and finished in 8th place. Only a 4 year old, Callum felt that 'Margaret' (aka 'Peggy') was still a bit weak, and when the pace upped on the turn for home she was left a bit flat footed in the testing conditions.
Our Elsie is a lovely filly and has shown us a lot of talent at home, so she's far from one to give up on.

Baby Ticker ran a fair enough race on her comeback after a year's absence. Approaching the veteran stage, the 10 year old mare ran with quite a bit of zeal in behind the leaders in the 2½ mile contest and after holding every chance 2 out, couldn't match the pace of the leading pair approaching the last.
Still, 4th place on her season's return bodes well for the rest of the season.
