Paper Roses tries her best at Kelso

Paper Roses ran quite well for a good part of the 2m 5f handicap hurdle yesterday at Kelso before fading from contention 2 from home. She finished 6th of the 9 runners in the field.

Callum wasn't entirely happy with the mare in the home straight, she was hanging to a degree, so nursed her home. We did ask the racecourse vet to have a look at her gait, and he diagnosed a slight lameness behind.
Paper Roses will be monitored closely over the next couple of weeks - just walking and trotting - and we'll see how she goes.
