Musselburgh Wednesday - two runners for the yard

Thank goodness for Musselburgh.
While meetings are cancelled left, right, and centre Musselburgh follows up last week's meeting with a 2-day fixture this week, this first of which is on Wednesday. And we've a couple of runners in handicap hurdles, both of which are qualifiers for the Northern Lights Series finals (hurdles) to be held at this course on 20th March.

First up is Big Bad Dream in the 2.40, a staying handicap hurdle over 3 miles, and what a mix of horse profiles there are.

There's a couple returning from long absences (Island Heights, Jennys Day - both have run well fresh in the past), two who are taking a drop in class (Arthur's Secret, Dadsintrouble), an inconsistent sort (oh, that'll be our lad Big Bad Dream) and several who have either shown best form at a lesser trip, or on a sounder surface.
Last week's lightly raced chase winner from Dalgleish's yard First Account runs here unpenalised and is therefore 6lb well in on adjusted ratings which come into force later. A progressive sort, he could be hard to beat if this race hasn't come too soon.

Big Bad Dream is a stuffy horse at home and we'd like to run him more often but recent rain has thwarted us in that respect. Callum could be in for a hard shift..............

The 2m 4f hurdle in which Paper Promise takes part at 4.40 doesn't look quite as competitive as the one above but there are a couple that catch the eye.
Dianne Sayer's Summer Lightening is a progressive mare who has won her last two races, although over 4f shorter and a sounder surface.
Goldie's Pammi has been running consistently but only reaching the frame. However, the booking of Hughes is interesting.
Both have the form to win here, a remark that can be applied to a couple of others, not least our Paper Promise.

She is a mare of huge potential but has a lot to prove. In her last two races she has been travelling well but weakened quite quickly when asked for her effort. She has been checked out and nothing obvious has come to light so she'll wear a first-time tongue tie here.

Oh, and Irish Point placed Tippingituptonancy, subsequently purchased for £185k, is surely better than the modest form shown so far and makes her handicap debut of OR98. Surely not another Southern raider thrown in...............
