Newcastle review
Banks O'Houxty ran a
very fine race yesterday at Newcastle in what was only his second jumps
outing.
In the 2m 4½f novice hurdle, he was an 8 length runner up to a potentially smart hurdler in
Lemon T after racing prominently for all of the race.
He still held a
chance approaching the last just over a length down on the winner, but a
slight mistake here allowed Lemon T to pull clear. He did keep on to the
line to be the clear second best though.
A couple of races later and Paper Promise finished 4th in the mares
handicap hurdle over 2m 4½f.
We had hoped that she would run a bit
better, for after travelling quite nicely to 4 out when she set off to
chase down the leader (and eventual winner) Theflickeringlight, she
didn't find much. Still in contention for a minor place, she weakened over the last two and finished well
beaten.
Well, that's racing till Boxing Day where we may run Big Bad Dream at Wetherby, and there's Kelso on the 29th to look forward to
Have a Merry Christmas, and do take care.
