Quieter couple of months at Dodlands
Well, on the face of it that is.....
There are always plenty of jobs to be done around the yard, apart
from the 2 or 3 horses we have in during the summer months.
Deep cleaning the boxes, painting, hosing down some new running rails,
placing the rails on the gallops, mending fences.......but enough of the
jobs assigned to The Trainer.
Wor Lass (due to run on
Saturday at Newcastle) and our
Dream Ahead 2 year old will shortly be joined by a new 3 year old
Shirocco filly and these will be the mainstay of horses in training
during the Summer months (unless anything catches our eye at the
sales.....).
As mentioned in previous News Items,
Bollin Julie will start a new career as a broodmare,
Goodknight Percy has
already been retired a couple of months ago to a farm just along the road in Denholm (and
thriving!), and our veteran hurdler
Snapping
Turtle has also been retired to a good home.
Of course, we've already penciled in a return visit to the Tatts Ireland August NH Sale - more of which nearer the time. We usually return with 3 or 4 horses at modest prices but exceptional ability (!), and if anyone fancies a 3 day trip to the sales ring near Dublin, drop us a line.
Meantime, with our NH horses out enjoying a spell at grass, here's a couple of photos of our horses in relaxation mode!
