Runners at Carlisle tomorrow
Another couple of our string make their seasonal debuts tomorrow at Carlisle.
Current stable top rated performer
Shades of Midnight
runs in the Class 2 handicap hurdle over 2½ miles. This is a hot
event (0-150, 15 runners) for our gelding in his first venture into
handicap hurdle company but you've got to start somewhere I suppose.
We hope he can give a good account of himself but he usually takes a
couple of outings to hit his peak, as he is quite a stuffy horse by
nature.
Tomahawk Wood is another making his handicap hurdling debut. In time we're sure he'll be suited by softer ground and a staying trip, but we're looking for a nice run here although he's another we think will need the race. A word of caution, in that he may not run if the going is not soft enough.
Review of Thursday at Sedgefield
Champagne Agent wasn't able to follow up over course and distance, being puled up when beaten before 2 out. The ground was on the soft side, but we only gave the gelding a couple of weeks between races this time. He's been on the go al thorugh the summer and due an autumn/winter break but we might just give him another race before then. So look out for 'Fizz' in around 4 weeks time.
We thought Snapping Turtle
would need the race, and he certainly looked a wee bit burly in the
paddock beforehand. But this 10 yr old turned in another personal best
effort only going down by ½ length to the favourite Jac The
Legend.
'Bruce' was up in class, and racing of BHA110, so we were absolutely
delighted with this run, and he is clearly well suited by extreme
distances.
