Hartforth placed at Carlisle

Carrying top weight on heavy ground at Carlisle is never ideal, but we really wanted to get a run into Hartforth and for various reasons we've missed a couple of opportunities recently.

Well, we needn't have feared as our game gelding ran his usual fine race under Callum, setting off in front and jumping well throughout. He was headed by the eventual second (Pistol) 4 out but, under Callum's urgings, remained prominent before being outpaced approaching the last.

This race will have done the gelding the world of good, and we'll be looking out for a 3m plus handicap hurdle in the North somewhere at the end of December/early in the New Year. Ayr, maybe.
