Kelso Review - Ellistrin Belle

What a thrill our 5 year old novice hurdler gave the members of the Potassium Partnership at Kelso today in the opening novice hurdle. There were 3 highly rated bumper horses making their hurdling debut - our mare was having only her second outing over obstacles herself - but Ellistrin Belle jumped well in the main, and travelled nicely. Slightly caught for toe after the cross flight, she dug in stoutly and stayed on again to finish a highly creditable fourth.

In a similar fashion to last week's winner Hartforth, Ellistrin Belle had been working well in her morning work, but the racecourse can always be different. However, the mare delighted us with a run full of promise for the future.
Ellistrin Belle requires one more run to qualify for a handicap mark, and if she comes out of this race well, there's a couple of opportunities in 3-4 weeks or so.

Kelso Review - Bollin Julie

Like Ellistrin Belle, our mare Bollin Julie has improved so much physically in the last 12 months. She'd been of the course for over 500 days prior to today. Callum held her up off the pace, and she travelled and jumped well until being outpaced just after halfway, eventually finishing 7th. Bollin Julie will come on for the run, but she really does need a bit of respite from the BHA handicapper.
