20th January news

Nearly, very nearly

She was leading by a couple of lengths 2 out, but in the end Nearly May had to settle for second place in the bumper at last week's Newcastle meeting.
We were delighted!!

Ryan gave the mare a fine ride, always prominent, and he made sure the mare enjoyed the occasion which she clearly did as she kept finding a bit more when challenged. Only giving best inside the final furlong, Nearly May ran a race which bodes well for her career as a staying hurdler.

It didn't all go well for us on the day, as Snapping Turtle ran as if something was amiss in the 3m handicap hurdle, finishing a well beaten 6th. Sarah will check her out.

We'll try again.....

For one reason or another, our staying handicap hurdler Mini the Minx has missed a couple of engagements recently. Wetherby is the latest race meeting to be put under threat due to the participation of our mare.

Should the meeting go ahead, we hope first time blinkers do the trick and the testing conditions suit our dour, staying mare. She'll have an each  way shout.
