The family

Gogo Glenda is a daughter of the unraced Supreme leader mare Glenda Lough. The dam has had a couple of runners, most recently Avonmore who was placed 4 times in bumpers and over hurdles but unfortunately died at 6. More successful has been the Henderson trained Leaderofthedance, a bumper and dual hurdles winner, now a broodmare.
Glenda Lough also has a gelding (b2018) by Clovis Du Berlais.

The 2nd dam Garrylough was successful 7 times over hurdles and fences, Listed placed 3 times including Newbury's Grade 1 Challow Hurdle in 1994. As a broodmare, Garrylough has continued her success with 3 runners, the best of which has been the Grade 3 placed hurdler The Cookie Jar.

Further back in the family can be found Toranfield, an Irish trained jumper from the early 90s, a multiple winner including at Listed level over both hurdles and jumps.

About the sire

The German bred Schiaparelli (chestnut h b2003) comes from an increasingly popular and successful - in the National Hunt sphere - sire line of Monsun (Shirocco, Gentlewave, Vadamos etc.).
He was a top class racehorse.
Making his debut at 3, this tall rangy sort was trained until 4 by Peter Scheirgen in Cologne, Germany. During that period he won 9 races, four of these at Group 1 level over 12f including the German Derby. Switching to Godolphin for his final two seasons, he again triumphed at Group 1 level when winning again of 12f at San Siro at the age of 6.

He has stood at Overbury Stud in Gloucestershire since 2011 and from the 2015-16 jumps season has sired more than 70 individual winners, including a Cheltenham Festival (and later Grade 2 hurdle) winner in Indefatigable in 2020. Ronald Pump is another Grade 2 hurdle winner for the sire.

His current stud fee is £2,000

Season 2022-23 outlook

Gogo Glenda was an acquisition at a Goffs UK National Hunt sale in August 2021

"Glenda" was broken in shortly afterwards and actually spent a few weeks in and out of training in the Spring of 2022. So when she re-joined the yard in late Summer, the mare knew her job.
Gogo Glenda is a 5 yr old at the start of the season, so we were keen to crack on with her. As such, she was actually ready to race in late September but picked up a knock which required several weeks of box rest. However, she could be ready to race again in a bumper in the second half of the season.
