Pallas Lord makes a quick reappearance at Newcastle
Newcastle 8th January : 5.00 pm 1m 5yds 0-60 handicap (Class 6)
No jumps racing in the North on Monday as Ayr's track is frozen. No such problems at Newcastle though, where the advance going is 'standard' on their Tapeta flat track.
It's not a normal strategy for our yard, but Pallas Lord makes a
quick reappearance here after running just 4 days ago over course and
distance. And that was a fine run, finding only top weight Eleven Eleven
too good.
He again wears a tongue-tie (which was worn on his last two runs -
second place each time) and PJ McDonald is also present, riding in the
stables' colours.
His conqueror last Thursday was a strong puller who Pallas Lord
couldn't quite peg back inside the final furlong and he faces another of
that type in Odds Socks Havana. Becca Menzies' 6yr-old is a dual c&d
winner (off OR47 & OR49) so may need to drop a pound or two more to get
his nose in front again (OR52 here).
But this is a tight handicap and a couple of others that catch the eye
are Reclaim Victory (who can be slowly away) and the mare Coligone Kate,
off 10 months and on stable debut for Julie Camacho.
Best of luck to the lads.
