Shoeshine Boy at Haydock
Haydock 6th December : 2.55 pm 3m ½f 0-110 Conditional Jockeys' handicap hurdle (Class 4)
8 runners, heavy going in this staying hurdle at Haydock.
G&G's Chris Cool made a winning start to the season when triumphing
at Huntingdon a month ago. A muddling race, he made some jumping
mistakes and he's gone up 6lb so probably the handicapper has found his
level.
Top weight Jasmiwa from Twiston-Davies' in-form yard has obvious claims.
She won a couple of times last season (including on heavy) and caught
the eye with a promising reappearance at Chepstow when 3rd in a 0-120
event. Carries 12st minus her jockey's 3lb allowance. She shapes as the
one to beat.
Of the others, Kinneston Nick's Artic Mann returned this season after two years on the sidelines with a couple of fine runs at Kelso. He stays 3 miles, acts on heavy and should be in the final shake-up.
Shoeshine Boy has run several really fine races over the last couple of seasons. He's managed to find that consistent level of form but may be vulnerable to an improving type. After his last run, he was a bit quiet in the yard possible feeling the effect of a couple of second places at a higher level. This drop in class should help.
Young Lewis Dobb takes 3lb off, and good luck to him and Mousetrap Racing.
