Snapping Turtle finishes 7th at Newcastle
In a small way, this wasn't a bad performance from our veteran hurdler Snapping Turtle yesterday at Newcastle.
Callum had the Turtle Island gelding jumping well at the front of the race, and reported afterwards that the horse was loving jumping and racing. He was headed 3 out, but was unable to quicken as the leading group set sail for home.
It may just be that he needed the race a little, but would appreciate
softer conditions if only to slow down the younger and more fleet of
foot opponents. 'Bruce' has come out of the race very well, straight
into his feed upon returning home, and he didn't leave a drop this
morning. Mmmn....maybe a set of blinkers might help?
A Class 5 handicap in about 3-4 weeks may be on the card, at somewhere
like Ayr or Sedgefield.
