Bumper debutant at Kelso tomorrow

Paper Promise, a 5yr old full sister to the stables' Paper Roses, will make her racecourse debut at Kelso tomorrow (Sunday), where she will line up in the concluding race, a 2 mile National Hunt Flat race. She will face 13 opponents in this mares only race.

Our mare was an acquisition from the Tattersalls' NH Sale last August, where the vendor also sold her year younger half brother (by Westerner) to the Crawford Bros. That gelding - Way Out West - won a bumper recently at Sedgefield, so the family is doing well!
Paper Promise is not that similar to Paper Roses, who was 3rd on her bumper debut, having a stronger looking conformation as opposed to her athletic sister. Still, she's shown enough on our home gallops to take in this race, which we hope will bring her along in terms of experience and maturity.

Bollin Julie is retired to the paddocks

Leased for the season to Denholm Park Racing, Bollin Julie did her owners proud during the year with a third place at Ayr, and a victory at Sedgefield in February.

Her final race for the stable was at Hexham on Tuesday night, where she jumped and travelled well to 2 out but was left behind when the leaders quickened for home.
In National Hunt terms she is well bred - her full sister Bollin Judith won 3 hurdle races in addition to 6 flat successes, and another flat race sibling is Multellie who won 3, and was placed 10 times when trained by Tim Easterby. Another couple of siblings (including our own Bollin Fiona) were also successful hurdlers, and being a dual hurdles winner herself, she holds a fine pedigree for her new career as a broodmare.

We hope to send her down to Mickley Stud to be covered by Yorgunnabelucky, who won 5 races when trained by Mark Johnston and is a full brother to the top class racehorse and sire Shamardal.
