Runners at Ayr today
Couple of runners, and first up in the 5 runner mares handicap hurdle
is Bollin Julie.
Although not the most consistent sort, she can be very capable on her
day as she showed last month when recording her second career victory
over 2m 4f at Sedgefield last month. This is a slight increase in
distance (2m 5f) but she has won previously over 3 miles, and the ground
should be ideal.
On the downside, this is a step up in class, and the first two in the
market (Lochnell and Alizee de Janeiro) have solid claims.
I'm sure the lads of the Denholm Park Racing syndicate will enjoy the day, and we wish them best of luck!
Bollin Julie (Garry) tracks Big Bad Dream in a recent gallop
Our second runner of the day is the mare Side of the Road, in the concluding bumper. Ayr - a galloping track - on heavy could not be more contrasting than her last run at Musselburgh - fairly tight track on good ground - but without having any pretensions of winning, this run should help her development.

Tomahawk Wood unplaced at Ayr yesterday
It was a
race in which we thought Tomahawk Wood held every chance -
he'd won over course and distance in January - but after being
prominent, the gelding weakened from 3 out and finished tired.
Callum reported to the stewards that he'd run flat (he was the beaten favourite), and we'll have him checked over again by
our vet Sarah in the next
few days.
