Wetherby tomorrow

Snapping Turtle heads off down the road to Wetherby for a staying handicap hurdle.

Our game gelding doesn't possess the biggest of frames and being rated OR116, we're almost obliged to enter in Class 3 events rather than carry big weights in Class 4s.
Of course, that does mean he takes on classier opponents and younger horses who are improving. One of those tomorrow is Sir Vinski, a 7yr old, who has been dropped 2lb for finishing 7th last time out at Musselburgh. 11 yr old Snapping Turtle finished 11th in that same race and was dropped 1lb......

Oh well, that's racing.

We've had 2 runners this week, neither of whom completed the course.

The mare Ellistrin Belle was pulled up 2 out at Sedgefield last Sunday. She's very sweet, and will make a excellent broodmare both in terms of conformation and pedigree, but seems to only be able to contest races after a long summer's break. Still, she has 2 victories to her credit!

Hartforth ran his normal, gutsy race at Catterick yesterday but could not keep pace with the leaders from 3 out. He was well held in 6th place when crashing out at the last. Like Snapping Turtle he could do with being dropped 7lb by the handicapper
