'Fizz' runs at Musselburgh tomorrow
We've given Champagne Agent a few weeks break since he was pulled up at Sedgefield at the end of October, and he'll run in the 3m handicap chase at Musselburgh tomorrow (Monday). The advance going forecast is 'soft' but we've always been of the opinion that with the excellent natural drainage at the seaside course, it only really gets soft f there is torrential rain on the day.
3 miles?
Well, our gelding has ran reasonably well at this distance in the past, at places like Perth, and he's very well at home. We think he can be competitive tomorrow and holds an each way chance.
Kelso review
By the time of the last race, underfoot conditions were extremely
testing and Tomahawk Wood
was the last of 9 runners (out of 13) to be pulled up. Pity, as he has
run a fine race, settling nicely in behind the leaders, jumping well and
travelling well until approaching 3 out, where he got a bit tired.
Callum sensibly soon pulled him up.
So some positives from the run, not least his jumping, and with a little
help from the handicapper, we hope to find a race in which he can be
competitive in the next few weeks.
Our other runner, Bearskin in the 2m novice hurdle, also jumped well and travelled nicely on the bit in behind the leading group until weakening approaching the last. Callum settled the gelding, who had pulled hard early, soon after jumping the first and gave us a lot of cause for enthusiasm to think that 2m on a sound surface would suit.
