Shades of Midnight heads to Kelso tomorrow

Shades of Midnight, who has won his last two races, is all set to try for the treble in the Class 2 staying handicap hurdle at Kelso tomorrow.

A step up in class for the Midnight Legend gelding, but having won his last couple and raised 20lb there is really nowhere else to run.
There are races at both Aintree and Ayr Grand National meetings, but with the ground drying all the while, we decided to run tomorrow at Kelso where the advanced report is good.

The race has attracted some useful sorts from Southern yards - Silsol and Top Wood - who have been mixing chasing with hurdling and running well. Silsol is droppped in class here, and looks the pick of the two. Isaacstown Lad at the foot of the weights is progressive but may be better suited by a softer surface.
So, a tight race and Shady - who also prefers a little cut in the ground - will probably have to improve again to be in with a chance over the last.
