Yesterday at Hexham

Snapping Turtle's 5th place finish at Hexham may on the face of it appear not so good.

However, we thought he ran a better race than that would appear. There had been considerable rain in the preceeding 24 hours which changed the going to soft (from the anticipated good to soft). Our gelding was up with the pace throughout, and indeed was one of 4 who disputed the lead from about 4 out drawing clear of the remainder. It was only after jumping 2 out that he began to tire, with 3 miles on the softening ground at this stiff track proving too much.

So, with the ground generally softening, we'll look for a opportunity over a bit shorter.

Note - if you are the official handicapper reading this, then it was a poor effort and you should be looking to drop him 7lb!
