Racing report

Snapping Turtle runs today at Musselburgh in the staying handicap hurdle.

This is a 0-100 Class 5 event, and presents Snapping Turtle with a good opportunity to get off the mark for the season. He's in good form at home, and the expected going (just on the soft side of good) will suit our gelding. If he handles the tight seaside track, he'll go very close.

Shades of Midnight 5th at Kelso yesterday

Shades of Midnight improved both his jumping and overall performance with an encouraging 5th place at Kelso yesterday. The race turned out in similar fashion as described in our race preview, with the market principals dominating proceedings. From our perspective, we needed to ensure Shady gained confidence in his jumping and he was in with a chance when chasing the leading group approaching 3 out. However, the leaders quickened again, and our gelding couldn't match that acceleration, but did stay on nicely from the last just failing to catch a fourth place.
