Hartforth runs at Musselburgh on New Years Day

It was at this meeting (-ish) last year that Hartforth won his 2nd hurdle race over this course and distance. But that was off a BHA Rating of 90 as opposed to the 113 that he'll race off tomorrow. He's been slowly finding his form this season, but will still need to be at his best to challenge for the win.
Having said that, he is going well in the morning gallops and if the ground is soft....you never know.

Dodlandswise :  Although the advanced going has been given as good, there is quite a bit of rain forecast all morning and afternoon (I mean, it'll be raining cats and dogs), so the preview is very much based on soft ground.
And it's quite vital as there are several of the 7 runner field who are best on good ground. Capellanus, Arctic Court, Captian Brown as well as summer hurdler Solway Sam fall into that category.
Rattlin has been chasing this season, but is in fine form (last run can be ignored) and the eye-catcher is Sandy Thomson's progressive Fly Vinnie who will be better for the return to 3 miles and must go close.
